Mentorship is central to the learning experience at Lighthouse Labs. Our team of talented mentors are essential to student success - their varied input equips students with a collection of problem-solving strategies they can take into every challenge. They’re the bridge between students and the professional development world, and they’re a touchpoint for students to expand their network. Most of all, they’re a community, investing in our students and building professional relationships that will continue long after Demo Day.

While mentorship is one of our core values, we know its benefits extend far beyond our four walls. Mentorship is key to career growth and professional development in a rapidly changing landscape. It’s the strategic connection between a seasoned professional and a committed learner, coming together to fill in the gaps, impart soft skills only experience can bring, and build a roadmap for future career success. It’s the passing of the torch that allows professionals to share their expertise in a way that intentionally builds career springboards for others.

With that in mind, we’re launching Mentorship Month. It’s an invitation to communities across Canada, a shared space to celebrate mentorship and equip people with the tools they need to be excellent mentors and mentees. Each January, we set aside this time to reflect on mentorship and kickstart our year with new connections, sharper skills, and a fresh resolve to invest in our communities. We’re hosting panels, networking events, and mentoring sessions to build connections in our community, and we’re inviting others in our cities to join us.

Visit our Mentorship Month page to discover events near you, or download the resources we’ve built to help you refine your mentorship. Share your own mentor success stories, and join the community so we can keep you in the loop about mentorship opportunities coming your way. We can’t wait to see you there, and we’re excited to see the insight and expertise you bring to the table as we work together to pass the torch.
