Our students come from all backgrounds and walks of life. Neuroscientists, accountants, teachers, and musicians have all come through our doors. At Lighthouse Labs, we're looking for a rare breed: someone who seeks an opportunity for extraordinary growth and is ready to thrive in an intense learning environment.
We believe that the best developers are passionate, lifelong learners. As for you: you see bootcamp as more than just the means to an end, and it shows in your ever-growing list of side projects.
Some brains are just wired for coding, no matter their previous exposure or education. You think in a logical, structured way that lends itself beautifully to a career as a developer.
Becoming a developer is far from easy. Our program requires motivation, determination, hard work and resilience. You're goal-oriented and have a solid idea of what you want to accomplish. You get it done.
We're an array of personalities from every imaginable background, and the result is amazing. If you are kind, quick, and a little quirky, we will be fast friends.
In case it wasn't clear:
No previous coding education or experience is required to attend Lighthouse Labs.
Our students put their trust in us, so we hold ourselves to the highest standards to ensure that everyone coming into our program is set up for success.
Student Accessibility Services At Lighthouse Labs, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive learning community. If you need help and support as a student, we’re here for you.

A short 5-10 minute application for you to introduce yourself, including your education and coding experience, plus your super power. You know, the important details that will help us get to know you. New cohorts fill up on a rolling basis so make sure to submit your application as soon as possible!
After you complete your application you will be sent over instructions to take a logic assessment. This test is designed to assess your critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and learning aptitude (it doesn't require any prior experience). It is multiple-choice and only takes 15 minutes to complete.
After you pass the logic assessment you will be invited to book an interview with us. The interview is a 30 minute conversation in which we assess your passion for tech, past experiences with learning and teamwork, and your overall readiness for our program.
The first step to becoming a developer is laying your foundation with our Prep Modules. The 70 hours you'll spend on completing prep will introduce the basic technologies you'll use throughout bootcamp, including: HTML, CSS, Ruby, JavaScript, and git. You are required to complete the Prep Modules before your first day of bootcamp.
Once you are accepted into a cohort, your place in the program will only be reserved once we have received your deposit. Deposits can be paid by credit card, and we are able to accept wire transfers for the remainder of your tuition. Your tuition is due 2 weeks before your start date.
6-10 weeks before your intended start date.
For bootcamp, we recommend you apply 6-10 weeks before your desired start date as our cohorts start on a rolling basis. The more time you have for prep and stretch goals, the better!
Length: 12 weeks
The mandatory 70-80hr prep modules must be completed at least one week before the start of Bootcamp.

There are many ways a student can finance their tuition, including bank loans or a line of credit. If you have a good credit rating, they may be able to offer you a lower interest rate.
Some students are successful in applying for grants or bursaries to attend our programs and we recommend you research what is available in your area! We are designated through PTIB in British Columbia and registered as a PCC in Alberta which qualifies some provincial funding pots.

What’s your admissions process?
The application process takes 4 steps:
Apply online: Complete our online application, where you'll introduce yourself and give us an overview of your background. This includes your education, coding experience, plus your superpower (you know, the important details that will help us get to know you).
Interview and Logic Assessment: You can book your interview during the application process or you can wait to do so until we email you with a booking link. We want to meet you, get to know you better and answer all your questions about bootcamp. Another important element of these interviews is the Logic Assessment: this portion of the interview takes 15 minutes to complete and is part of the application process.
Technical Assessment: After their interviews, successful candidates will be sent some material to study so they can prepare for our technical assessment. You do not need to have prior experience in coding or data science to perform well on these tests, and we will provide you with all the resources you need to successfully complete them! These are both multiple choice and done online on your own time within a 2-week period of your group interview. Once these assessments are complete, students can be accepted into the program.
Prep Modules: The time you’ll spend on the Prep Modules will introduce the basic technologies you’ll use throughout bootcamp. You’re required to complete the Prep Modules in the weeks leading up to your first day of bootcamp. Ask Admissions for more information.
Do I need any specific experience to take a Lighthouse Labs Bootcamp?
No formal education is required to being admitted to Lighthouse Labs! While having some coding knowledge or technical experience always helps, your background does not matter as much as a genuine interest in code, data science, or cybersecurity and a raw determination to succeed in this challenging environment. A passion for tech and a little bit of grit can be all that's needed to succeed!
Tell me more about these prep modules.
The prep work is there to help you do the groundwork and prepare for success before Day One of Bootcamp. Each student is required to complete the prep modules at least one week before starting Bootcamp. The program is really 14 weeks long, as we consider the prep modules to be two weeks of full-time work on top of the 12 weeks of bootcamp. However, you can jump into the Prep Modules as soon as you are confirmed into the program, so we recommend that you use all the extra time to make sure you get through all the prep with plenty of time to spare.
*Please note that for Alberta residents the program extends to 16 weeks long with 4 weeks of prep modules
